Rocco and the price of lies by Adrian Magson

Rocco and the price of lies by Adrian Magson - Blog tour.

Murder by suicide? Three senior government officials – a judge, a politician, and an ex-police chief – are all dead by their own hands. Inspector Lucas Rocco finds himself once more working for the Interior Ministry: undertaking an investigation meant to avoid a government scandal and ignoring unpalatable truths. He’s soon convinced that a common denominator must be at play… Rocco uncovers top-level fraud, theft and deception. And when he narrowly survives an attempt on his life, he realises that he has nothing to lose by bringing the truth out into the open – whatever the risks.

So I would like to start by saying a big thank you to the publisher The Dome Press for sending me a copy of the book to read and review as part of this blog tour.

Rocco and the price of lies is actually the sixth part in a series that is based around a character called Inspector Lucas Rocco, saying that though I had to problem reading this book even though I hadn't read any of the other books.

I really enjoyed this book, I found that it was perfectly paced, it wasn't going to fast but then it wasn't going to slow that I would lose interest.

You really can't help but take an instant liking to Rocco, he's very direct but also funny at times, you really can't help but like him.

The topic of this story is very much the kind of books I like to read so I will 100% be adding all the others in this set to my list, which is huge as it is but these books going by how much I enjoyed this one is a must!

And on a final note can I just say a huge thank you again to The Dome Press and of course the author Adrian Magson for bringing these books into my life and for finally giving me the first 5-star book I have read this year! Thank you!

My rating is:
(5 stars)

Thank you for reading.

Please go and check out the other stops on this blog tour!

Guest Post:
I never expected, when I moved to France many years ago, that I would end up writing a police series set in Picardie, the area where I lived. Well, I was only 9 at the time, and writing was the furthest thing from my mind. When you find yourself in a foreign country, having to learn the language because nobody speaks English, and getting to grips with everything that is French, you have other things to occupy your mind.
Fast-forward, however, a lot of years and back in England, and a writer is what I’ve become. I’ve done all sorts, from short romantic fiction for women’s magazines, to features, to creative writing, to comedy material and now books.
And now all that French experience has come home to roost. It means I’ve been able to trawl through the canyons of my brain and come up with not just a cast of characters, but a setting I know well from having lived there. True, I need the storylines and plots, too, but that’s what I do.
Rocco and the other characters seemed to slot in quite easily. And placing them in the rural pastures of the Somme, in northern France, was an easy choice. They have been fun to create, too. Not based on specific individuals, but an amalgam of many.
As to the setting, pastures or not, crime is crime whether in the cities, towns or villages, and it needs a resolute cop to deal with it. And Inspector Lucas Rocco is as resolute as they come.
But a main character needs to be placed out of his or her comfort zone, to stretch and challenge them. And having fought gangs in Paris, Rocco finds himself in the back of beyond, where you have to drive somewhere to find a phone, a coffee, a criminal or even a fellow officer.
In this the 6th book-length outing for Rocco, he’s tasked by the Interior Ministry with investigating the apparent suicides of three high-profile members of the establishment. But there’s a problem: nobody in the government wants him to uncover a scandal. Unfortunately for Rocco, there are three of them. And one thing Rocco doesn’t do is cover up anybody’s wrong-doings.

Shallow Graves bt Patrick Logan - Review.

Shallow Graves b y Patrick Logan. Not all houses are made of brick and stone... And that's only the beginning.   Before the month is out, Robert finds himself alone to raise his daughter with no money, no job, and a house that is minutes from being repossessed. Just when he hits rock bottom, a strange visitor arrives at the doorstep of his soon to be foreclosed house with a letter from an Aunt he didn't know existed. The killing lessons by Saul Black.

The killing lessons by Saul Black. When the two strangers turn up at Rowena Cooper's isolated Colorado farmhouse, she knows instantly that it's the end of everything. For the two haunted and driven men, on the other hand, it's just another stop on a long and bloody journey. And they still have many miles to go, and victims to sacrifice, before their work is done. For San Francisco homicide detective Valerie Hart, their trail of victims--women abducted, tortured and left with a seemingly random series of objects inside them--has brought her from obsession to the edge of physical and psychological destruction. And she's losing hope of making a breakthrough before that happens. But the murders at the Cooper farmhouse didn't quite go according to plan. There was a survivor, Rowena's ten-year-old daughter Nell, who now holds the key to the killings. Injured, half-frozen, terrified, Nell has only one place to go. And that place could be even more dangerous th
